The Gaston County Jail’s inmate phone system is hosted by ICSolutions. When an inmate calls you from our facility you will hear a voice prompt letting you know that an inmate from the Gaston County Jail is trying to call. You have three options to choose from. You may accept the call, refuse the call or block the call. When you press 5 and accept the call there will be a 60 second complimentary call provided by IC solutions. This complimentary call is free of charge and can only be used one time per inmate per number. After the 60 second call is done you will be transferred to an operator to setup a phone account with ICSolutions. To refuse a call you simply “Hang up” the phone. If you choose to block the call you will not receive calls from that particular inmate anymore. Once you have blocked a call the only way to have it removed is by contacting an administrator at the facility. All calls are subject to monitoring and recording.

Here at the Gaston County Jail we are setup for inmate Debit Calling. This means you may add money to the inmate’s commissary account and the inmate may purchase phone minutes inside the facility. This call type will be announced as “a call at no cost to you”; however, acceptance is still required. Once the inmate purchases phone minutes he/she may call whoever they wish as long as the numbers have not been blocked.
The maximum length of a call is 15 minutes. At the 14 minute mark you will get a prompt letting you know that you have 1 minute left.
To avoid being disconnected
Several events can cause a failure to connect a call, or disconnection of a call in progress. To prevent such events, please comply with the following guidelines:
- Do not attempt a three-way call.
- Do not use call forwarding or call waiting on your phone.
- After your call is connected to an inmate, do not press any numbers on your keypad.
- Avoid long periods of silence during conversations.
